Sharp Exit

Spread the love

With our recently abandoned game being rescheduled for a date I simply cannot make, my time at Heaton Hawks LFC has come to an unexpected and sharp end. While the timing isn’t what I envisioned, looking back on the journey, it has been an absolute privilege to manage such a fantastic group of people.

To the Squad

Working with this team and witnessing the togetherness you share has meant the world to me. That bond is the heartbeat of this club. I’ll be the first to admit it hasn’t always been easy, and I’ve certainly made my share of mistakes along the way! But I wouldn’t change a single thing. I don’t regret a second of our time together; the highs, the lows, and everything in between were worth it.

40 Years in the Game

The time is right for me to step back. From playing and refereeing to coaching and managing—spanning men’s, women’s, youth, and senior football—it has been a forty-year shift. I’m ready for a break.

We all know there is a critical shortage of volunteers within grassroots football. While I’m stepping away now, in this game, you can “never say never.” However, for now, it is time for someone else to step up to the plate. It’s a challenging role, but I can tell you firsthand: the rewards and the relationships far outweigh the difficult moments.

The Final Word

Thank you to everyone who made this journey possible. Keep playing the right way, keep looking after one another, and keep that Heaton Hawks spirit alive.

It’s been a blast.
