Match Report: Momentum Slips in 6-3 Defeat

Spread the love

It was a night of “what could have been” for the Hawks. Despite holding an early lead and showing flashes of clinical finishing, the team ultimately struggled to contain a direct opposition, falling to a disappointing 6-3 defeat.

The Match Breakdown

The game couldn’t have started better. Within the first few minutes, Rachael found the opening goal to put the Hawks 1-0 up. The lead was short-lived, however, as a defensive error at the back allowed the opposition to level the scoring at 1-1 just ten minutes in.

The Hawks responded well initially, with Soph finding the net to restore the lead at 2-1. But from that point on, the game got away from us. The team struggled to cope with a very direct style of play, and the midfield trio found themselves struggling with Ponteland dual-signing Nicole Dack, who dictated the tempo.

As the game progressed, the performance levels dropped across the pitch. While we looked to play out, defensive lapses and a lack of support from the forward line meant the opposition were able to turn the game around and pull clear.

Individual Efforts

While it was a poor collective performance, two players stood out for their application:

  • Soph (POTM): Carried the biggest threat, finishing the night with two well-earned goals.
  • Hannah: Put in a tireless shift at Left Back, working hard in a defensive unit that was under constant pressure.

Final Score: 6-3 Goals: Rachael (1), Soph (2) POTM: Soph

A tough result to take and, by all accounts, one of the most frustrating performances in recent seasons. With only two games left in the campaign, the focus has to be on a reactionโ€”getting back to basics and finding the grit needed to finish the season properly. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›
