As some of you may already know, I will be stepping down from my role at Heaton Hawks. The club and the players have been informed, but I wanted to share this update with the wider football community.
Grassroots football is a challenging environment. While the club does a commendable job fielding youth teams, my ambition has always been to drive a highly committed, competitive adult setup. Over time, it has become clear that my expectations for team commitment, player support, and infrastructure do not fully align with the current realities of the club.
I have been incredibly lucky to work with a core group of fantastic, dedicated people who gave everything to the shirt and truly embodied what it means to be a team. To those players who consistently showed up and put the work in—thank you.
The club will be advertising for a new manager shortly. If the right person is available before the end of the season, I am more than happy to either step down with immediate effect or assist with a smooth transition, depending entirely on what the new manager requires.
Until that time comes, or until the season concludes, I will continue to support the squad. I wish everyone at the club all the best moving forward.
