This Sunday, the Heaton Hawks Ladies head to Craik Park for a massive showdown against top-of-the-table Morpeth Town.
We know the quality Morpeth brings, but the Hawks are built on Togetherness and grit. It’s time to find our rhythm, trust our passing game, and show the league what this squad is made of when we pull together.
📉 The “Fixture Madness” Factor (A Masterclass in Poor Planning)
Talk about a recurring nightmare for the scouts! In a statistical anomaly that can only be described as “fixture madness,” by the time we hit our 10th league game, our schedule will have looked like a revolving door of the top three.
Between the league and cup draws, we’ve become very well-acquainted with our rivals:
- North Shields Athletic: 4 meetings (3 League, 1 Cup)
- West Allotment Celtic: 3 meetings
- Morpeth Town: 3 meetings
- Gosforth Bohemians: 2 meetings (1 League, 1 Cup)
It is a damning indictment of the league’s fixture preparation that we are essentially playing a “Mini-League” of four teams while half the division remains strangers. To have played the same three opponents nine times in ten games isn’t just repetitive; it’s a lazy failure of organization that drains the variety out of the competition.
Safe to say, we’ll be absolutely delighted when we finally get to see some fresh faces and play Prudhoe Town, Cramlington United, and Newcastle East End—assuming the league eventually remembers they exist! Until then, we keep grinding. We might be seeing the same kits every week, but the mission remains the same: reset, lace up, and keep climbing.
